Fun House Mirror by Katie Hacker

1 to 2 hours – allow adequate drying time

Main Materials:
Elmer’s® Tacky Glue
1-12”x1” FloraCraft® Styrofoam™ disk
Blue giant Pepperell chenille stem
Blue standard Pepperell chenille stem
Light blue Plaid® acrylic paint
14 mirrors in 1-1/2-3” circles

Basic Materials:
8-10 standard paper fasteners
Craft stick
Paintbrush
Water
Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Dip a paintbrush into water and load it with blue paint.
  2. Paint the front and edges of the foam disk. Let it dry.
  3. Cut a giant chenille stem to fit around the edge of the foam disk with the ends overlapping (about 38” in length).
  4. Separate the ends of a paper fastener, dip the ends in glue and press it over the end of the end of the chenille stem to press it into the edge of the foam disk.
  5. Use the same technique to attach paper fasteners every few inches to hold the chenille stem in place.
  6. Arrange the mirrors in an interesting pattern on the front of the foam disk.
  7. Use a craft stick to spread glue on the back of the mirrors and press them in place on the foam disk. Let the glue dry.
  8. Cut a standard chenille stem to 8” long.
  9. Twist the center together to form a loop. Bend the ends in right angles.
  10. Make two holes in the back of the frame with a craft stick.  Glue the ends of the chenille stem into the holes to make a hanger.
