Main supplies:

  • Red checked patterned paper – 12” x 12”
  • Card stock – red, tan and off-white – 12” x 12”
  • Narrow, flexible jute
  • Preserved metallic leaves
  • Elmer’s® Painters® Opaque Paint Marker – black fine tip

Basic Supplies:

  • Elmer’s® Washable School Glue Stick
  • Elmer’s® Washable School Glue
  • Pencil
  • Fiskars® decorative edge scissors
  • Fiskars® straight edge scissors
  • Ruler


Instructions:

  1. From the off white card stock, with straight edge scissors cut one piece 6 ½” x 3 ¼” and one piece 4 ½” x 3¼”. With the fine tip marker print the title “Family” on one and “Tree” on the other.
  2. On the off white card stock, print names of each family member on the family tree. Start with child’s name and go back three generations. Trim the names with decorative scissors.
  3. Trim ¾” off two sides of the tan card stock and glue to the red checked paper.
  4. Draw family tree shape lightly with pencil on the tan card stock. Trace the shape with glue. Lay the jute rope down over the shape. Allow to dry.
  5. From the red and off white card stock, cut mats for photographs: for child – 2 1/2” x 1 3/4”. For Mom and Dad – 2 1/4” x 1 1/2” For Grandparents – 2 mats 1 3/4” x 1 ¼”
  6. Glue names in place along the jute rope. Glue down the title pieces and leaves. Glue photo mats into place with photos.
