How to Make Spirelli Accents

Designed by Julie McGuffee
1211-4

Main supplies:

  • Coats and Clark metallic and neon threads
  • Card stock – assorted colors
  • Templates – round, square, etc.

Basic Supplies:

  • Decorative punches
  • Scissors
  • Decorative edge scissors
  • Tape

Instructions:

1:  Punch or cut a shape from cardstock.

2:  Tape the end of the thread to one side of the shape. This will be the back.

3:  Bring the thread to the front between two points. (Fig. 1) Pull across the front then to the back again passing through two points.  Note. The number of points you leave between where the thread comes up from the back and the point where it goes down, determines whether you will have a small or a large opening at the center when finished.  (The fewer number of points between the thread, the larger the center will be.)

4:  Bring the thread to the front between the next points on the circle, pull across the front then to the back passing between the points next to the first.   (Fig. 2)

5:  Continue wrapping the thread around the shape until you end at the place where you started.  Tape the end to the back.
