Mayans were known for their weaving skills. This traditional shirt incorporates texture and color for a traditional Mayan design.

 

 

You will need:

  • White pillow case
  • Yarn - red, orange, purple,
    and green
  • Fabric glue
  • Pinking shears
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Wax paper

Instructions:

1. Prewash pillow case to remove sizing. Dry.

2. Using pinking shears, cut a neck opening and two armholes. Cut approximately 10” off the bottom of the pillow case using pinking shears.

3. Cut lengths of different colored yarn to form your desired pattern around the neck

 

 

opening and across the front of the shirt. Apply a bead of fabric glue and adhere the yarn to the pillow case. The glue dries quickly so only apply glue a section at a time. Let dry.

Hint: Slide a piece of wax paper inside pillow case while gluing. Remove once the glue dries.
